Sanne Thijssen wins thrilling Longines Grand Prix of Rotterdam
She’s only 22-years-old, but just proved that she has no trouble leading the way for the greatest names in the sport. Sanne Thijssen just won the thrilling Longines Grand Prix of Rotterdam, riding her bay Holsteiner stallion Con Quidam RB (v. Quinar). Fifteen combinations qualified for the jump-off. There wasn’t any part of Santiago Varela’s course that proved to be particularly difficult, although the colourful wall did get knocked over every now and then.
Quite early in the jump-off Sanne Thijssen put down an incredibly competitive time of 33,10 seconds, gaining her advantage in the very last line. After winning earlier this week with Warriors Glory, Sanne’s equally youthful compatriot Kim Emmen took Thijssen’s challenge riding Jack van het Dennehof (v. Toulon). She got close, but had to sign off in 33,52 seconds. Veteran McLain Ward managed to squeeze inbetween with his Contagious (v. Contagio), taking second place and sending Kim to third.
Fourth place was for Bryan Balsiger and Ak’s Courage (v. Chepetto C) and Peder Fredericson ended in place five with H&M All In (v. Kashmir van Schuttershof). Frenchman Kevin Staut was last to enter the prizegiving, after riding his Visconti du Telman (v. Toulon) to a sixth place.
