Dirk’s Favourite: Larissa Pauluis’ touching tribute to her husband Grégoire
During these 2020 Olympics, our Belgian colleague Dirk Caremans keeps us up to date on all that’s happening in and around the Tokyo Equestrian Village, completing our news articles with his fantastic photographs. In addition, Dirk provides us with a daily update sharing his favourite photo of the day.
On the opening day of the Olympics, Dirk sends us this touching photograph of Belgian rider Larissa Pauluis: “Just as she exits the arena, she sends a greeting to the camera to her beloved husband Grégoire Naslin.”

On May 6th 2020, Grégoire unexpectedly passed away at the young age of only 39 years. Grégoire was co-owner of his wife’s top horse First Step Valentin and the driving force behind their dressage stables in Belgium, First Step Horses. Besides his wife Larissa, Grégoire left behind their two daughters Capucine and Joséphine.
